For the Love of a Dog
Branding | Illustration | Social & Print media
overview
For the Love of a Dog is a work in progress documentary film by an upcoming cinematographer -Anurag Dasgupta, based on the life of Indian stray dogs.
My role was to do research about the state of Indian strays and create promotional print and digital media for the initial crowdfunding of the film. Along with it an identity had to be established for the initial stages and advertised across various platforms.
Client: Anurag Dasgupta | Cinematographer
Aim: Create promotional media for film and its cause
Target group: Animal lovers, prospective sponsors for the film, and the general public
this project was recognized by the Animal Welfare Board of India. Various dog shelters, bloggers, and animal rescuers promoted and appreciated my work.
Problem statement

What would be the best way to promote a film based on uplifting the state of dogs in India?
process
Logo and Identity
The color yellow and black were chosen for the initial branding. The reason being most of the footage in the film till now had shots of dogs from night time with yellow hues of street lights in the dark. Also, the client was already using a similar scheme and I felt that sticking to it would lend us more recall.
Informative zines
After a lot of research, I had crucial data that I felt every good citizen should know about. This was verified from multiple sources and illustrated so that people pay attention to such important information.

A zine was found to be the best way to put this across. Due to its compact size, it could easily fit in a press kit needed for the film promotion. The zine format makes it easy to flip through and it is made on a single A4 size sheet of paper, it worked as a poster too.
This Zine highlights a few key facts about a dog's body language and behavior.
These zines were made for print purposes, later a digital version was also created for them to be shared online.
This Zine highlights a few crucial laws under the Animal Protection Act of India.
Social media promo
Certain poster-like illustrations were made to be converted to merchandise for sales in future.
Press kit
A promotional kit was made for prospective sponsors. It was supposed to be petite and economical since the client had to travel multiple cities with it.
