Problem statement

Experiment digitally, the representation of a unique narrative inspired from the college trip to Khajuraho, MP.
process
overview
Why: A trip to the ancient temples of Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh inspired me to create a story.
Context: It is based on one of its most popular sculptures that are the Vyala/ Shardul. It is the sculpture that adorns the temples in repetitive patterns around its periphery.

It is a half-human half-animal sculpture often depicted in a battle with two human warriors. It is believed to represent the constant struggle of humans with their inner demons.
How: I did research about the sculpture and created a fictional story on this concept that was released on Instagram for people to view.
Sketching
To understand the form and visual language, a sprint of sketches were made from the photographic captures from the trip.
Character design and development
Assigning a unique shape to each character, I listed the keywords for each character based on the feeling I wanted it to convey. Then based on those keywords and multiple references, I made the final characters.

Each character was assigned a unique color scheme, a background/setting and gadgets to make them memorable.
The story
It was published on Instagram for easy access and as my first experience of a series of post following one story.
